Double crown for Carmel
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Carmel Convent girls won both the High School and Higher Primary titles in the XXIII State-level inter-school volleyball championship for the Soundarya Cup at the Corporation stadium on Sunday.
In their final Super league match, the under-17 girls outlasted Sports School, Vidyanagar 26-24, 14-25, 15-13 in a marathon contest to emerge unscathed and annex the High School crown.
As if to emulate their seniors, the under-14 girls surged to the Higher Primary title, though without the same anxious moments, as they romped to a 25-18, 25-18 rout of Sri Rama Vidyalaya. The vanquished in both categories finished runners-up.
Shantinikethan took the High School boys title after a 25-17, 25-18 verdict over Sports School, Vidyanagar. The Vidyanagar school had to remain content with the second position in both the boys and girls categories in the High School section.
Meanwhile, Carmel School, Padmanabha Nagar took the Higher Primary boys’ honours with a straightforward 25-21, 25-23 defeat of St Joseph’s School.
