PEOPLE IN SPORT

Marat Safin, the Russian tennis star, has dropped his long-time coach Alexander Volkov following a spate of poor results. Instead, Safin has decided to team up with Argentine Hernan Gumy, who has coached several top players including former world number one and French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten.

Amir Khan climbed off the canvas to keep his unbeaten record intact and win the Commonwealth lightweight boxing title in London on Saturday. The Englishman overcame the biggest scare yet of his 13-fight professional career against Scotsman Willie Limond. Khan, 20, came up with a strong fightback after his slip-up.
