Jairam Ramesh apologises
DH News Service, New Delhi:
Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh has offered his unconditional apologies to the son and daughter of Field Marshal K M Cariappa.

Referring to a news report which appeared in these columns on Sunday, Jairam Ramesh sent this mail to Deccan Herald.
“I read the news item in today's DH (July 15th) that I committed a faux pas while visiting the samadhi of Field Marshal K M Cariappa in Madikeri on July 14th.
If indeed I am guilty as charged in your newspaper, I offer my unconditional apologies to the esteemed son and daughter of the Field Marshal who were with me, to the people of Madikeri and Kodagu and to the public at large. I am also sorry that nobody brought my faux pas in stepping on the samadhi in my eagerness to read the plaque commemorating the memory of the Field Marshal to my notice then and there. But this does not excuse my action.
