The first ‘All India Photography Salon - 2007’ contest organised by Karnataka Photographers Association, on the eve of its golden jubilee celebrations attracted around three hundred participants from all over the country with a total of 1600 entries.
The contest had two themes, pictorial prints - colour and nature prints. In the pictorial prints - colour theme, the prize winners are:
I Prize - Pinaki Ranjan Majumdar of Kolkata for his picture ‘The green dusk - 1’.
II Prize - A G Lakshminarayan of Sagar for his picture ‘The preaching place’.
III Prize - D G Mallikarjuan of Bangalore for his picture ‘How is it?’.
Certificates of merit have been won by
Jodhpur’s, Safad Ali’s picture ‘Welcome’, Kolkata’s, Pradip Mukherjee’s picture ‘Touch of life’ and West Bengal’s, Shubhasish Banerjee’s ‘My grand ma her past and present’. In the nature prints theme, the prize winners are:
I Prize - S Mallikarjuna of Bangalore for his picture ‘Mock fight of young bull elephants’.
II Prize - G S Ravishankar of Mysore for his picture ‘Pied bushchat with feed’.
III Prize - Roop Singh of Bangalore for his picture ‘Jackal at Masai Mara’.
Certificates of merit have been won by:
‘Paradise fly catcher guarding chicks’ by Bangalore’s, M Venkataswamappa and ‘Mating flies’ and ‘Indian Robin feeding chick’ by Amitava Das of Raiganj.
The contest was judged by an eminent panel of jury, on July 1, comprising of Benu Sen and A K Bhattacharjee of Kolkata and T N A Perumal and M S Hebbar of Bangalore. Prize distribution ceremony and inauguration of the photo exhibition of all the accepted photographs of this event will be held on July 20, at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Tumkur road, Peenya. The exhibition will be open to public till July 22.
