Police Dept Comes Under Fire
Bangalore, July 16.
Trenchant criticism of the administration of the Police Department and suggestions for revitalising the department were made today in the State Legislative Assembly during the debate on the budget demand for Police. Mr B N Boranna Gowda (Con-Belur), who led the attack, suggested that educated young men should be recruited to the constabulary while Mr Srinivasa Shetty (PSP-Coondapur) urged the formation of a committee to suggest measures for putting down corruption.

India, Pak To Hold Talks in US
Karachi, July 16.
Representatives of India and Pakistan would meet in Washington on July 20 under the aegis of the World Bank to discuss further the canal waters dispute, authoritative sources said here today. Mr G Moinuddin, will  led the Pakistan team.

‘Start Of Anti-Cong Wave In State’

Bangalore, July 16.
There is an anti-Congress (I) wave among people in the State who strongly feel the Opposition parties should unite to field common candidates in the coming Assembly elections, according to Mr S Bangarappa former Revenue Minister and PCC(I) Chief. Mr Bangarappa returned here along with Mr D B Chandre Gowda after touring nine districts.
