Sabeel Ahmed, the Indian doctor arrested in Liverpool after the attempted car bomb attacks, was remanded to custody till August 13 after he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him under the Terrorism Act, 2000.
Two unnamed trainee doctors who were arrested at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley on July 1 have been discharged without charge.
Both were trainee doctors, aged 25 and 28. The police have not released their names or nationality.
Sabeel is accused of not disclosing information that could have helped police arrest a suspected terrorist. His solicitor, Nadeem Afzal, told the hearing at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court that his client intends to plead not guilty to the charge.
The two unnamed trainee doctors are among the three arrested people who have now been released without charge.
Marwa, 27, the wife of another arrested, Mohammad Asha, has also been released without charge. Both were arrested on June 30. Asha is currently being held in London’s high-security Paddington Green police station. Two of the arrested who have so far been charged are Sabeel and Iraqi doctor Bilal Talal Samad Abdullah.
While Bilal Abdullah was charged with conspiracy to cause explosions, Sabeel is accused, under the Terrorism Act, 2000, that he had information which he “knew or believed may be of material assistance in preventing the commission by another of an act of terrorism”.
His brother, Kafeel Ahmed, 27, who was arrested after the attack at Glasgow’s international airport, is still in hospital under police guard.
