Sohrabuddin case: Charge sheet filed
DH News Service, Ahmedabad:

Armed with a truckful of documentary and material evidence including bullets pumped into Sohrabuddin Shaikh during his fake encounter and bottles of soil samples of the place where Kausar Bi was eliminated the CID (crime) filed a 713-page charge sheet in the high profile Sohrabuddin fake encounter and Kausar Bi killing case on Monday.

A team police officials headed by Raju Bhargav filed the charge sheet at 11.00 am at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate KJ Upadhyay's Court in the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court.

While the chargesheet was filed in a sealed cover sources claimed that as many as 190 witnesses have been named in the chargesheet filed against 13 accused in the case.

The thirteen officials against whom the chargesheet has been filed include IPS officials DG Vanzara and Rajkumar Pandyan from Gujarat and Rajasthan SP Dinesh MN. Besides these the other accused named in the chargesheet include police inspector NH Dabhi, then ATS constable Ajay Parmar, commander Santram Sharma, ATS DySP ML Parmar, DySP Dr Narendra Amin, Balkrishna Chaubey and NB Chauhan.

Sources claimed that besides the bottles containing soil samples other material evidence, including seven bullets pumped into Sohrabuddin Shaikh, the registration papers of the bus that was intercepted at the Tandola village in Maharashtra when Sohrabuddin was travelling between Hyderabad to Sangli in Maharashtra, the bus tickets of Sohrabuddin Shaikh and Kausar Bi and the railway ticket between Surat and Ahmedabad by which then ATS constable Ajay Parmar travelled during the abduction, have been submitted.

A CID inspector who was present at the Court claimed that they have enough evidence to pin the accused in the case.

The charges have been framed in three stages. The first phase includes the abduction of Sohrabuddin Shaikh and his wife Kausar Bi from Tandola village in Maharashtra where the luxury bus in which they were travelling was intercepted. The second phase of the investigation includes the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Shaikh who was projected as a terrorist and the killing of his wife Kausar Bi who is believed to have threatened to spill the beans on the police officials. The third phase of the investigation encompasses the destruction of evidence and the disposal of the remains of Kausar Bi at the Ilol village in Sabarkantha district from where DG Vanzara hails.

The fake encounter case has seen several twists and turns ever since Rubabuddin Shaikh, brother of Sohrabuddin pursued the elimination of Kausar Bi with the SC. The initial report filed by the CID was prepared by Geetha Johri but the case had later been handed over to Rajneesh Rai.The case was then handed over back to Johri in a dramatic fashion after Rai was believed to have been moving fast to conduct a narco-analysis and brain mapping on the six accused originally arrested.
