ITC launches organic spices

 Aashirvaad, a brand of ITC Foods division for its staples, on Tuesday, launched a new range of  ‘Aashirvaad Select Organic Spices’ which is naturally manufactured from organic produce. Initially the range will comprise of Coriander, Chilli and Tumeric powders.
The company said that it will also look into other spices like pepper and cumin. Briefing reporters, ITC Foods Divisional Chief Executive Ravi Naware said, “With increasing awareness for organic food in India, specially in the urban households, we have introduced this range organic spices.”
Stating that the expected demand for organic spices would be around Rs 100 crore annually, Mr Naware said the company may also bring in other categories of food products in its portfolio like atta and Kitchens of India under organic label. Available in 100 gm pack the Coriander, Chilli and Tumeric powders are priced at Rs 32, Rs 30 and Rs 24 respectively. The estimated market size of packaged spices stands at Rs 1,000 crore. The range will be available in all retail and departmental stores across the metros from Monday.
