Minister for Health and Family Welfare R Ashok on Tuesday distributed identity cards to slum dwellers in Ittumadu and Maruthi Sevanagar. The Karnataka Slum Clearance Board had provided these cards.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ashok said, “There have been instances in the past where people possessing title deeds have sold their houses and also misused identity cards meant for allotment of sites. To avoid this, identity cards have been issued to women instead of men.”
He also announced new projects, including construction of a new government college at Uttarahalli and opening of a primary healthcare centre at Hosakere. “A sum of Rs 7 crore has been allotted for developing roads at Ittumadu and Maruthi Sevanagar. Rs 10 crore would be sanctioned for development work in these areas.”
