Boom for Indian data centres
Shibu B S
A research conducted, proved the structured cabling market in India to be growing fast at a rate of 22.1 per cent, out of which data centres contribute about 32 per cent...

Systimax solutions from CommScope, manufacturers of structured cabling systems and providers of integrated connectivity solutions for video, voice, data and building management applications in both wired and wireless enterprise networks, is all set to explore the fast growing Indian data centre market. The new expansion plan is in the light of a research by AMI Partners, commissioned by Systimax Solutions.
AMI research findings project that the structured cabling market in Asia Pacific is set to grow at 11 per cent through 2010, and the fastest growing market is India with a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 22.1 per cent. China is second at 13.6 percent.
However, in sheer market size, the Chinese market ($229.6 million) will be a much larger market than India ($125.7 million) in 2010. More than 90 per cent of the Structured Cabling market (including Data centre Structured Cabling) is concentrated in China, India, Japan, South Korea and Australia.  Among this, the highest growth market in Asia Pacific is India (46 per cent), closely followed by China (37.5 per cent).  The study also reveals that the growth in the APAC Data centre market is being driven by the popularity of online gaming, triple play services, blogging, video sharing and video hosting. This growth will directly translate into excellent growth for Data centre Structured Cabling. According to AMI, in 2005 only 13.8 percent of the structured cabling business in the region came from the data centre market.
In 2010, the research suggests that data centres will contribute about 32 percent of the structured cabling business in the region.
“A typical data file has more than tripled in size over the last few years,” said Ispran Kandasamy, Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific for Systimax Solutions.
“This trend is projected to continue over the next several years as multiple terabytes of data are moved and stored on enterprise servers in data centres. Keeping ahead on access capability and storage capacity is a daunting task for data centre managers, ” he added. Systimax Solutions currently supplies product ranges including the copper-based GigaSpeed X10D and Gigaspeed XL Solutions.
