Birur MLA S L Dharmegowda inaugurated the ‘bisiyutta’ programme at SJM High School here recently.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that 75 per cent of the students in the school are from rural parts and hence the government scheme will be very helpful for them. He promised to provide 10 computers to the school.
He also said that he has planned to plant trees in Birur town at a cost of Rs 15 lakhs, shortly. Block Education Officer K S Mani said that SJM school is giving good results every year though the rural students are not so bright when they enroll. This is because of the capability of the teachers and model administration of the school president Patre Sadashivan.
Patre Chanaveerappiah Kalyanamandir Trust donated gas stoves, steel cups and other utensils worth Rs 25 thousand to the school.
The Rs 19,000 worth big vessels for cooking were donated by Mangilal Prasanna. Patre Sadasivan, School Secretary E Nanjundappa, former Municipal Chairmen B B Jagadish and M P Shadakshariah were present .
