GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE IN CITY
'BJP ministers are taking undue mileage'
DH News Service, Shimoga:

BJP ministers from the district are trying to take undue mileage of beginning Government medical college in the City, alleged former MLA Kariyanna.

Considering the need of Government medical college in the City, Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti was constituted 2 years ago.

Rudre Gowda, who was President of District Chamber of Commerce and Industry then was made President of the samiti in which elected representatives from all political parties and people from different walks of life were members.

Samiti took a delegation to Dharam Singh who was Chief Minister then and urged him for medical college in the City for which Dharam responded positively.

The State cabinet also approved proposal for establishment of the Government medical college and Dharam Singh Government paid fee to Medical Council of India seeking approval and affiliation.

Work of constructing building of the college was kickstarted by Mr Dharam Singh. B S Yediyurappa who was Leader of Opposition then and local Legislator K S Eshwarappa also took part in the programme.

Dream of Government medical college has been realised due to concentrated efforts from leaders from all political parties and organisations like Dalita  Sangharsha Samiti, Raitha Sangha among others. But BJP leaders are claiming credit for themselves.

Persons who were nominated for administrative council of Government medical college are acting as agents of BJP and persons and organisations which strived for the establishment of college have been neglected, he alleged. In a release, Mr Kariyanna has said that the credit of establishment of Government medical college should go to leaders of all political parties and organisations who supported the cause.
