Monsoon sale

Central Cottage Industries Emporium is holding the Monsoon Sale, a unique exhibition-cum-sale of cotton fabrics and sarees from all over the country. Colourful, beautifully made and easy to maintain, these fabrics and sarees speak of the art, culture and diversity of the country. The sale will be held from July 18 to 27 July, 10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 7 pm (all days), at  CCIE Premises, M G Road.

Exhibition

Annai Sarees & Lady M Boutique jointly present an exhibition-cum-sale of hand and block-printed sarees in silk cotton, Kerala cotton, Tharapuram and Mangalgiri cotton and salwar materials in floral, geometrical and ethnic patterns with a royal touch along with kurtis and lehengas. The exhibition will be held at Shyam Bhavan, 919, 9th Cross, 24th Main J P Nagar, 2nd Phase till July 20. For  details contact 99801 38952, 9840375520.

Kids carnival

Kara 4 Kids is back with their carnival with a new theme of executing birthdays. It will focus on every aspect of organising and executing a birthday party. All are welcome to join this workshop on July 19 from 11 to 1 pm at Crossword Bookstore, Residency Road. Contact 9844167547 for details.

Painting competition

Karnataka State Council for Child Welfare, a voluntary organisation working for the welfare of the under privileged children and women presents an on-the-spot painting competition for school children. The competition will be held on July 26 between 2 to 4 pm in five zones — Chamarajpet, Indirangar, Jayamahal, Malleswaram and R T Nagar. For details, contact 23330846, 22925898.

Kannada classes

Kannada Prasaara Parishat will start its next batch of spoken Kannada, Kannada Script Learning and advanced Kannada classes from July 20. Textile show

Yamini is presenting ‘Textile Art Show’ by women artisans of the Kala Raksha Trust. In a unique and timely exhibition of narrative art, women artisans from Kala Raksha express their experiences of the importance of water in their lives.

The exhibition will be on from July 18 to July 20 from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm at 11/2 Haudin Road, Near Ulsoor Lake. For details, contact 41134781. 

Discussion

EasyLib.com, the online library is hosting a discussion on the philosophy of work to explore new attitudes towards work, leisure, and jobs. Excerpts are read from Bertrand Russell's 'In praise of  Idleness' where he points out the fallacies we hold in the way we feel towards work. Elocution

Karuna Animal Welfare Association is conducting an elocution competition for high school students in Kannada and English on August 12 at Nayana Auditorium, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road (next to Ravindra Kalakshethra).
