Five caught in LH lift
DH News Service, Bangalore:

For nearly an hour, five people, including the lift operator at the Legislators’ Home, got an off-hand experience of a ‘prison’ on Wednesday evening. Reason: The elevator at LH (old building) got stuck between the third and second floors due to a technical snag.

Lift operator Sanjeevaiah, Venkatesh Melkote, Gangadhar, Gunashekar and another man were caught inside.
The staff of various departments - electrical, housekeeping, water supply - tried in vain to rescue them. Later, an LH outpost police officer called the firemen for help.

The fireforce personnel rushed to the spot and freed them. Sharing their experience with Deccan Herald, they said: “We got panicky as it was pitch dark and  was suffocating. We managed to alert the people outside by banging the lift door. Then the help arrived”

“To our misfortune, we could not make calls as cellphone networks were not working,” one of the victims said.
