The taluk Municipality workers began an indefinite strike supporting the Karnataka State Municipal Workers, and urged the authorities concerned to fulfil their demands, in the town, on Monday. “We have started the agitation following the call given by the Association, it will continue till our demands are fulfiled” protesters informed.
They demanded the authority concerned to implement the recommendations of Fifth Pay Commission even for municipal workers. Their other demands include regularisation of their services, and the ban of tender system.
The workers had began their protest from July 1 wearing a black badge during their work, they had even submitted a memorandum to the government in this regard, they said. Taluk Municipal Employees Association president N Narasimha, Secretary C Gopal and others led the procession.
