'For intellectual exercises'
Mangalorean opens website for 'reasoning'
Mangalore, DHNS:

A new website welcometoreason.com under the auspices of Jaybeam Features was lauched at Johnlyn Cottage at Bondel near here on Tuesday.

The website, a venture of columnist John Monteiro seeks to provide an arena for intellectual exercises and deals with life and related matters. In fact, it affords opportunities to readers to have their own say on topical themes presented in the website.

Speaking after launching the website, Syndicate Bank former chairman and managing director N K Thingalaya recalled his college days at St Aloysius College (1956-58) when he and Mr Monteiro were together and how they met each other again through Mr Monteiro’s writings.

Deliberating on the new website, he urged the members of the public to take up local issues than national or international issues. He also cited an example of throwing garbage on streets and not into dustbins, for instance.
Another guest, Dr V Ravi Chandran, the founder and head of Glowtouch Technologies - IT and ITES Company based in Mangalore with offices in USA, said that the website is an eye-opener. He too was of the opinion that the website should concentrate on local problems and make Mangalore the next IT destination.

Speaking after releasing the website brochures, Bondel Parish Priest Fr Anthony Serrao was all praise for the new venture by his parishioner.

Mr Monteiro said “Welcome to Reason” has credible other uses as one can download the topic and distribute to essay and elocution competitors.

“We forsee the forming of Welcome to Reason Clubs all over to periodically hold debates and essay competitions centred the topics from the website,” he said and added that these clubs can be under the auspices of schools, colleges, Rotary, Lions, social and religious groups.  The other guests included Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Capt John Prasad Menezes and KMC former dean Dr K R Shetty.
