The coalition government in the State has created a record by opening 181 Government colleges in the State, said Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy.
Speaking to presspersons, he said the State had 171 Government colleges so far. Moreover, there was a ban on the appointment of lecturers since 1993.
“After I took charge as the Minister, I withdrew the ban on the selection process. As many as 600 lecturers have been appointed so far. Within 3 months, another 1,300 new posts will be filled. PG courses will be started in 22 colleges in the State.” A sum of Rs 30 lakh has been released for the development and starting of PG course in Government College Kadur, he added.
