Caught in a tumultuous phase of his life over his alleged terror links, Wednesday brought some cheer to Mohammed Haneef, when he spoke to his wife Firdaus Arshiya.
Mohanned Haneef’s father-in-law Ashfaq told Deccan Herald that Haneef had called at about 11 am on Wednesday and talked to Firdaus.
Mohammed Haneef enquired about her and their new-born child’s health.
Mohammed Haneef told his wife Firdaus not to worry about him as he would be freed soon.
Mohammed Haneef informed Firdaus that he firmly believed that he would be freed.
He told her that the Australian authorities are tormenting him unnecessarily,” Ashfaq said. Mohammed Haneef enquired about his mother, brother Shoaib and his sister’s daughter.
Firdaus upset
“I’m upset with the news that my husband’s detention has been prolonged,” Firdaus said.
She was reacting to the news about the extended detention of Mohammed Haneef in a secluded jail by the Australian authorities.
Firdaus was hoping to go to Australia to join her husband. However after the Australian government cancelled her visa five days ago, she gave up plans to go to Australia.
“As my health is not permitting me, I won’t apply again for visa but one of my cousins would go there,” she said.
