Ramdevs guru goes missing
DH News Service, Dehra Dun:

The Uttarakhand police has launched a manhunt to trace Mahant Shankerdev, a yoga teacher of Baba Ramdev, after he went missing from Haridwar.

The 75-year-old Mahant was last seen leaving Ramdev’s Divya Yog Ashram at Kankhal area of Haridwar during the daytime on July 14. Since then, the Mahant is untraceable, said SSP Haridwar B Murugeshan.
A report in this regard has been lodged with the police.

Baba Ramdev has learnt yoga from the Mahant, a spiritualist, who is said to have considerable following in Haridwar.

The Mahant has also contributed a lot in the development of the famous Patanjali Yogpeeth at Haridwar, which is considered to be a renowned yoga institution.

Meanwhile, the police has launched a manhunt to trace the Mahant, who frequently used to go to various ashrams in the city. “We are gathering information from various ashrams of Haridwar,” Murugeshan said.
Baba Ramdev, who is presently away in Britain, has urged Chief Minister B C Khanduri to find out the whereabouts of the Mahant.

This has prompted Khanduri to seek a detailed report from the police in the wake of a series of murders in the state during the past three days.

On Tuesday evening Tilak Raj Behad, a Congress MLA, escaped unhurt when his convoy was attacked in Udham Singh Nagar area.
