No move to shift race course

Bangalore, dhns: Public Works Minister H D Revanna on Thursday told the Legislative Council there is no immediate proposal before the government to shift race course (Bangalore Turf Club) to the outskirts of Bangalore.

Mr Revanna was replying to a question raised by Mr Marithibbe Gowda (Ind), who wanted to know the status on the shifting of the 67-acre course.

Mr Gowda said shifting of the course will help ease traffic congestion and the entire area can be developed as a green space.


Mid-day meals in new areas

BBMP has decided to extend mid-day meal scheme to schools and PU colleges in newly added areas of the Palike.
The decision was taken on Wednesday evening at the co-ordination meeting in which commissioner Dr Subramanya and people’s representatives including Health minister R Ashok took part. Mid-day meal scheme in education institutes set up by City Municipal Councils will be handled by the Palike. The representatives also urged the Palike to set up crematoria in the new areas.

‘Drive safe’ campaign

Twenty five youngsters on bikes visited Rajarajeshwari Nagar and surrounding areas and distributed the pamphlets about the tips on safe driving and first aid after an accident. This was part of Drive Safe Campaign organised by Manipal Hospital, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and launched by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Sampath Kumar.

The drive was organised to create awareness about prevention of accident, said the Hospital sources. Bangalore-Mysore highway is an accident prone area. For details and in case of accident, call:9900177770.
