Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti will strive for the overall development of Mangalore and in this direction it has come out with an action plan for the city for next 100 years, said Samiti Mumbai branch President Vishwanath Mada.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Mr Mada said that planned city, industrial development, employment, water, rivers, ferry roads, highways, Mangalore airport and port, tourism development, solid waste managment and sewage are some of the areas of concern in the district and the samiti is set to work with the government for the same.
He said that in developed nations like USA, the native American population is very less as they have been over shadowed by other nationalities owing to industrialisation.
With the advent of industrialisation in Dakshina Kannada district the same situation might occur when the local language, people, culture and lifestyle will be marginalised.
Hence he said that the samiti proposes and plans to demand the industries coming up in the region to assure 50 per cent uncompromised recruitment for local people while the rest of the 50 per cent can be dispersed among other regions.
Mr Vishwanath Mada said that Samiti has already ented into an agreement with Nagarjuna to assure 60 per cent of job opportunities for locals.
NETRAVATHI RIVER DIVERSION
What is that? asks Samiti
Nethravati River Diversion, which is a serious issue that environmental activists must be taking up seriously. But surprisingly when questioned about the stand of the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi samiti on the matter, Mr Mada said that neither was he aware of the issue nor did any member of the regional chapter inform him about the same.
