The Bachelor of Visual Arts degree offered by Shantiniketan Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya in town has received recognition.
Informing this at a press meet, College Principal Vishwakarma Acharya said the special assessment committee which studied the performance and achievements of 72 arts schools providing diploma courses, upgraded 16 arts schools to degree colleges apart from publicising the list. The UGC has changed the nomenclature of BFA degrees to BVA.
The two-year foundation course of BVA includes drawing, sculpture, graphics, History of Art and language. In the third year, specific subjects like drawing, sculpture will be taught to avail degree. There are options of computer graphics, textile design, posters, animations and other subjects.
Study of fashion and language taught in degree courses will also be included. Those who have availed degree certificates from the college can apply for any government employments.
Moreover, in case if the students wish to pursue higher education, the degree certificate issued from the college will be recognised in all universities in the country.
In the college, qualified lecturers from the country, special guest lecturers, well-furnished library, audio and vedio education, camps, discussions and career counselling will be ensured. Lecturers G V Hariprakash and Venkannachar were present at the press meet.
