Hansika snatches Puneet’s sleep!
And guess who will be snatching Puneet’s sleep and appetite in Bindaas? It is none other than Hansika Motwani, the ‘virtuous’ lass for whom Himesh Reshammiya gave up the sexy Mallika Sherawat in his Aap Ka Surroor. Hansika, previously a child artiste shone in Deshamuduru before bewitching Reshammiya. Wonder if she enjoys similar success with Puneet in Bindaas, whose storyline is supposedly of a youth being led astray by his love. Appearances can be deceptive, eh?

Ganesh’s dream girl
The relentless search for Ganesh’s dream girl in Gaalipata seems to have finally ended with Bhavana Rao bagging the plum role. This Kannadathi, a Commerce graduate from Dakshina Kannada happens to dance well too, if the show at the Mungaaru Male silver jubilee celebrations are anything to go by. With established actresses who can really act (Daisy and Neetu) already on board, Gaalipata promises a smooth ride to the newcomer.

Karnad back to school
Dr H S Venkateshamurthy was recently asked how he managed to be a prolific children’s writer at his age. The poet patiently explained that a man became a child once more as he aged. To which playwright-actor-director Girish Karnad, quipped, “Thank God, you can take such a view. I certainly cannot as I cannot write for children as easily as you do.” This conversation took place during the launch of director Kodlu Ramakrishna’s first children’s film, Chili Pili Hakkigalu, for which the poet is readying the screenplay and lyrics while Karnad dons the role of an ideal teacher who brings rebel kids Master Kishan, Karthick Sharma and others to track. Karnad is glad to be doing the film for he feels there is hardly any literature or films catering to children. With the actor being candid right at the beginning, one can almost believe in his capability to make the child actors in the film, Kishan in particular, get back to school. Only time will tell.

Kodlu’s lady luck
Director Kodlu Ramakrishna seems to have a lot of Lady Luck these days. While his earlier comedy, Tamashegaagi, had five women producers, his attempt in the children’s category has three women sharing the burden with two men. Hope his luck comes through and a fine message is imparted to the society.

Puneet’s A films
Actor Puneet seems to have given the alphabet ‘A’ some respite by acting in Milana and now, Bindaas. To be directed by D Rajendra Babu, the Power Star hopes to continue the success of his earlier films that had names beginning with A (Appu, Abhi, Akash, Ajay and Arrasu).

Over the moon
Ilayaraja is impressed with director Chaitanya, and his film Aa Dinagalu. Calling up from Chennai, Chaitanya was over the moon about the maestro appreciation of the film. Apparently, Ilayaraja thanked Chaitanya for giving him a lovely film, which has inspired him to do terrific music. Right now, it is being composed at Prasad Studios, Chennai non-stop.

Bindaas in Canada
The Puneet-Hansika starrer Bindaas team is going all out to live upto the title. Director Rajendrababu was spotted at the passport office along with cinematographer H C Venu, renewing his passport and arranging visas for his team to go to Canada to shoot songs. Quipped Venu, “We will be shooting two songs in Karnataka. However, a rich production is defined by its songs and locations abroad.”
