It’s raining and how. What started as a trickle, turned into a downpour and thereafter a deluge. So much so that the movie of the season—Mungaaru Male—celebrated the silver jubilee of its run at City theatres. To fete the moment, the cast and crew of the film, hosted a party at the sylvan surroundings of Palace Grounds recently.
And what an evening it was. It was non-stop entertainment for over four hours as virtually the who’s who of Gandhinagar gathered to soak in and share Mungaru Male’s success, as the team celebrated it in all pomp and pageantry.
Of course, the star of the show was none other than the namma mane huduga with the Midas Touch—Ganesh—basking in his new found status. Sharing the limelight with him was director Yograj Bhat and the film’s heroine, Pooja Gandhi (aka Sanjana).
The ensemble presentation that had the crowds eating out of their hero and heroine’s hand and cheerily crying for encore, left one and all simply star-struck and spell bound. Besides, performances by Ganesh and Pooja, actors Digant, Tarun and other troupes had the spectators asking for an encore.
Yes, the first family of Kannada filmdom was in full attendance too, led by matriarch Parvathamma Rajkumar with sons Shivrajkumar, Raghavendra and Puneeth in tow. Ganesh’s close pal and hero of Nenapirali Prem, rebel star Ambareesh, directors Nagatihalli Chandrashekar, S V Rajendra Singh Babu, Rockline Venkatesh and State Home Minister M P Prakash marked their attendance at the glittering function. Indeed, in keeping with the rain theme, the evening too saw a sprinkling of showers greeting those that had gathered.
