Berggruen Hotels, an international hospitality chain, will launch three projects in Bangalore, including two boutique hotels and one serviced apartment, costing a total of about Rs 100 crore.
While one hotel with 180 rooms will come up on Hosur road, a 155-room hotel and a 75-room apartment will be located at Whitefield. All the three properties would be opened within the next 18 months. Room rents at the two three-star category hotels will be priced less than Rs 3000. The hotels will bear the brand name Keys Hotels.
Backed by an equity of $ 100 million, Berggruen Hotels will build a minimum of 38 hotels in the country in the next five years to add 4,200 rooms in Tier 1, 2 and 3 cities. It has acquired 10 new sites in various locations and is actively pursuing 20 more. The hotels will have 100 to 170 rooms each. “We are ideally placed to exploit tomorrow’s opportunities as the size of the company will make it a dominant player in the next five years in the Indian hotel scenario,” Partha Chatterjee, director on board and chief marketing officer, Berggruen Hotels, said.
Other hotels to be launched would be located at Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kovalam, Pondicherry, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Surat, Ahmedabad Mumbai, Nashik, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Jaipur.
