Star power was fully evident in Thursday’s Presidential poll as most of them turned up to cast their votes which will decide the fate of UPA-left nominee Pratibha Patil and NDA supported Independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. Film stars like Govinda (Congress), Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha (BJP) and Raj Babbar (Samajwadi Party but suspended) came fully decked up to exercise their franchise.

However, women star attractions of Parliament like Hema Malini, Jaya Prada and Jaya Bachchan could not cast their vote. Hema, being a nominated member, had no voting rights while both Jaya Prada and Jaya Bachchan are MPs of the Samajwadi Party, which being a part of UNPA, has decided to abstain from voting.
