Mico SC get past Aristrocat
Mico Sports Club surged past Aristrocat 6-2 in a ‘C’ division hockey league match in the KSHA Stadium in Bangalore on Thursday.
Ranjan shot Mico in lead six minutes into the game. Two minutes later, Thimmanna increased the lead before Muthappa made it 3-0 in the ninth minute.
After a long lull, Kalappa struck one in the 28th minute while Sajay slotted one 32nd minute as Mico went into the break with a 5-0 lead.
On resumption Yeshwanta pulled one back for Aristrocat in the 55th minute before Nanjappa scored the sixth goal for Mico in the 56th minute.
Anand reduced the margin with a 57th-minute goal, but the effort was too late and too little.
Mixed luck for West Buckland
There was mixed luck for the UK-based West Buckland School in their two matches against Jain International Residential School teams at the JIRS grounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
An unbeaten 93 by Jas Kalsi failed to prevent the West Buckland boys from going down by three wickets in the first game, when JIRS’ under-17 team replied to the visitors’ 197 for eight from 45 overs with 200 for seven in 37 overs.
In the second game on Wednesday against the JIRS U-16 team, West Buckland saw the home side post 214 for nine in 45 overs.
Due to a rain interruption, though, the England side was set a revised target of 143 to win in 30 overs, and they pulled off a convincing six-wicket win, reaching 144 for four with 12 deliveries to spare.
Brief scores: West Buckland School: 197/8 in 45 overs (Matthew Down 54, Jas Kalsi 93 n.o.; Kunal 2-37) lt to JIRS U-17: 200/7 in 37 overs (Pratveer 76 n.o., Mahek 39).
JIRS U-16: 214/9 in 45 overs (Akilashwar 37, Shakshar 25; Branton Plain 4-36, Harry Chapman 2-54) lt to West Buckland School: 144/4 in 28 overs (revised target 143 from 30) (Harry Chapman 40, Luke Openshaw 29, Alby Lewis 28; Ronak 2-29).
Ramachandra stars for Carmel

Briefscores: U-14: Carmel HS: 115 all out in 27 overs (Naveen 39; Nandan 3-8, Ashish 2-19) bt BBUL Jain Vidyalaya: 55 in 16.2 overs (Ramachandra 8-10).
Centenary Cup: Carmel HS: 105 all out in 19.1 overs (Siddarth 3-11, Adit 2-8) lt to Jain International Residential School: 107/5 in 14.4 overs (Sharath 2-14).
