Revanna criticised for favouring constituencies
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Janata Dal (U) leader J C Madhuswamy on Thursday made a scathing attack on Power and PWD Minister H D Revanna for reportedly favouring some select constituencies in sanctioning development works.

Participating in a debate on demand for grants of various departments, Mr Madhuswamy quoting certain figures asserted that Holenarasipura, Ramanagar and Shikaripura constituencies had been favoured in the sanctioning of roads, bridges, buildings, etc, “While the rest of the constituencies have been given a short shift, outright favouritism has been shown in case of these three constituencies. I want to know on what basis funds have been allocated for roads, bridges and buildings in these constituencies? I demand the PWD minister to publish a white paper on the allocations made during the last three years,” he asserted. Mr Maadhuswamy strongly criticised the “package system” introduced in the PWD for awarding works. “This is being followed to help contractors from Andhra Pradesh and also the relatives of the minister”, he alleged. Further Mr Madhuswamy charged Mr Revanna with muzzling the voice of officers in PWD. “They are so scared that they don’t even furnish information to legislators. Everybody knows very well the fate of those who ruled with an iron hand in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. One day you will also meet the same fate”, he told the minister.
Mr Revanna was present when JD (U) MLA made the charges against him. Mr Madhuswamy said that Government owned organisations like KAVIKA and NGEF have been closed because no orders for supply of transformers were placed with them.
“On the other hand huge purchases are being made from private firms”, he alleged. The JD (U) leader also flayed the Government for taking a unilateral decision regarding regulaisation of unauthorised pumpsets.
“Because of the Government’s decision not to collect any deposits for regularising the IP sets (it is against the earlier decision to collect Rs 25,000 deposit), Electricity Supply Companies would suffer a huge loss”, he observed.
