Excise special squads of Bangalore Rural district conducted raids at three separate places in Devanahalli and Chennapatna taluks and seized arrack packets worth Rs 14 lakh.
The squads raided Swamy Punjabi Daba at Venkatagirikote in Devanahalli on Friday and recovered 75,000 arrack packets, worth Rs 10 lakh. Daba owner Srinivas and manager Ravi are absconding. In the raid on two places at Kodamballi village in Chennapatna taluk, 31,300 packets worth Rs 4 lakh recovered. Further investigation is on.
Inspector suspended
Mico Layout inspector Nagabushan was suspended on Saturday for dereliction of duty.
The inspector had allegedly failed to register 'stolen car' complaint and behaved badly with car owner Nagabhushan. Also, the car owner was made to run around for nearly a week. The owner had lodged a complaint with the senior officials. Recently, jurisdictional ACP B R Prasad had to register the robbery complaint as the inspector had not taken interest in the case. The inspector had also allegedly gone on sick leave without informing the seniors.
Found murdered
A criminal was found murdered near Janatha Colony on Mysore Road in J J Nagar police station limits during the early hours of Saturday.
Kodanda's throat was slit and his head was smashed using boulders, said the police. As many as six cases pending in J J Nagar police station. In 2005, Kodanda's brother Sreenivas was also murdered.
