JAMMA BANE LAND
Vidhana Soudha Chalo planned by Kodagu samit on July 30
DH News Service,Virajpet:

Kodagu Astitva Horata Samiti has decided to hold ‘Vidhana Soudha Chalo’ on July 30 demanding withdrawal of circular on Jamma Bane land.
The decision was taken at the Samiti meeting held on Saturday which was attended by former ministers M C Nanaiah, Suma Vasanth, former MLA A K Subbaiah, MLC Arun Machiah and others. Mr Machaiah addressing the gathering said that ‘Vidhana Sabha Chalo’ is an opportunity for the Kodavas to demonstrate their bravery and valour and called upon the people from the district to take active part in the protest and said that the circular on Jamma Bane will be withdrawn only if the Kodavas stand united.
Mr Machaiah said that the government was once keen on withdrawing the circular on Jamma Bane but after a delegation under the leadership of Codava National Council met Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and misguided the government creating confusion. “Now let the people decide if this is right or wrong,” he said.
“Government has been saying that the Jamma Bane issue will be solved in the cabinet meeting but the Revenue department Principal Secretary S M Jamadar has already submitted a seven page report to the government. If one goes by the report, the issue will surely not be solved,” Mr Machaiah said.
Former Minister A K Subbaiah said that let the ones demanding for permanent solution for the Jamma Bane themselves clarify what that permanent solution would be. “Jamma Bane has already been solved. It is now sufficient if Jamdar’s circular is withdrawn. There are several misconceptions about this circular,” he added.
Mr Subbaiah said that Bane holders do not have the rights to sell their land and under such scenario it means that the land belongs to Government. “A land holder must have the right to sell or buy land. In this direction the CNC stand is not people’s opinion at all. Instead it seems more dictatorial,” he added.
