The protest staged by the civic workers has reached sixth day and on the call of the state association of the Paurakarmikas, the protestors stopped water supply and waste disposal works on Saturday.
The protestors took out a procession and staged a protest in front of MLA T H Shivashankarappa’s house.
Public have expressed fear of the spread of epidemic in Tarikere owing to the lack of cleanliness and waste disposal for the past six days. Since the water is not supplied from Bhadra canal, water is being supplied to the town from streams.
People have been urged to drink boiled water to prevent the outbreak of water borne diseases.
Narasimharajapura
The protesting civic workers staged a protest in front of MLA D N Jeevaraj’s office in Narasimharajapura on Saturday. They also submitted a memorandum on the occasion.
In Mudigere
The indefinite strike by the civic workers entered sixth day on Saturday. They staged protest in front of MLA M P Kumarasway’s house.
Disruption in the water supply caused inconvenience to the students in hostels. The water supply to hospitals, hotels were also stopped on Saturday.
In Koppa
Owing to the indefinite strike by the civic workers in Koppa taluk, the cleanliness in the town is thrown out of gear. Town Panchayat had made arrangement for the cleanliness of the town with the help of contract labourers. But on Saturday, the contract labourers also supported the protest by the civic workers and the town has been converted into a ‘mini slum.’
