BOREWELL PROBLEM
Ganga-Kalyana project having tough time
DH News Service,Kolar:

It has not been possible to implement Ganga-Kalyana Project systematically in flood affected regions Kolar and Vemagal, opined MLA C B Krishna Bairegowda.
The problem lies in digging out personal bore wells under Ganga-Kalyana project.  Even contractors are not ready to dig out the earth for borewell as water has not been found even after digging out 450 ft
 Borewell
He pointed out that the government has fixed 450 ft for borewell but contractors have not found water even after digging out 450ft in Kolar except dust.
Hence, if the earth is dug out more than 450 ft, beneficiaries may have to bear the expense. Moreover, if contractors dig out more than 450ft they will not be paid.
Hence, the problem has become critical, it has not been possible to implement Ganga-Kalyana Project systematically, he said.
The government has allotted only Rs 65,000 for the bore well project, but only 450 ft can be dug out with this amount.  “We need to dig  around 800ft in this region to get water. The problem has been discussed in the Assembly,” he said.
‘No water no money ’
The government has said unless water is found contractors will not be paid.
This has put contractors into fix. “I have urged the government to withdraw the condition”. If the government is ready to pay money to beneficiaries in connection with bore wells, they will take care of it.
“The attempt to convince the government in this path is going on”, he aid.
“ I discussed the matter with Karnataka Minority Development Corporation Director Mohammad Salim to find out a solution.  It was decided to take contractors in to confidence to resolve the problem”, he said. Zilla Panchayat Members Naganal Somanna, Balaji Chennaiah were present.
