India’s campaign at the Philippines Open badminton championship came to an end with the exit of women’s doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian in the second round. Jwala and Shruti, ranked 27, fought tooth and nail before bowing to the sixth seeded combination of Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna of Japan  24-22, 10-21, 14-21.

In the men’s doubles event, Rupesh Kumar and Thomas Sanave lost to Albertus Susanto Njoto and Yohan Hadikusumo of Hong Kong 22-24, 16-21.

Aparna Balan and V Diju went down to Kunchala Voravichitchaikul and Songphon Anugritayawon of Thailand 15-21, 18-21 in mixed doubles’ second round.
