D’Souza downs Ashish in opener
Clavin D’Souza scored a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ashish Lunavat in the first round of the 35th B S Sampath Memorial Handicap billiards tournament at the KSBA Hall on Saturday.
Results: Roshan Dalwani bt B Madan (+20) 3-0 (50-38, 53-29, 50-36); Clavin D’Souza (+20) bt Ashish Lunavat (+20) 3-2 (27-51, 31-50, 51-31, 52-22, 51-41); M Lakshman (+20) bt Indira (+15) 3-0 (51-39, 51-36); A Deepak (+10) bt Aditya Navalkar (+15) 3-0 (54-44, 51-49, 50-43); Dinakar bt Bhanumathi Mendon (+20) 3-0 (50-27, 50-37, 54-36).

ITC score over Dhyanchand
ITC defeated Dhyanchand Hockey Club, Tumkur, 4-2 in the Karnataka State Hockey Association’s ‘C’ Division hockey league in Bangalore on Saturday.

Senthil (6th and 57th minutes) and Karumbaiah (17th, 57th) scored for ITC while Deepak (46th, 51st) netted both the goals for Dhyanchand.

In another match, ACE, Hosur, were leading 3-0 against Gulbarga District when the match had to be halted due to rain after 50 minutes.

Anbuchebian (6th), Vasantharajan (18th) and Rajkumar (35th) were the scorers for ACE. The remaining ten minutes of the game will be played at a later date, according to the organisers.

Inter-school hockey
The Allan MacBride Memorial inter-school hockey tournament for under-12 boys and the Tanvi Rao Memorial tournament for girls of Std. X and below, organised by The All-India Anglo-Indian Association, will begin on Monday at St John’s High School.
