A BJP worker was hacked to death in Anekal town near Mysore Bank, on Sunday night.
The deceased, Chinnayya (27), son on Narayanappa a farmer of Sidihosakote, Anekal taluk, was an autorickshaw driver.
As soon as the news of his murder spread, BJP workers and relatives of the deceased went on the rampage in the town.
They threw stones at two KSRTC buses and damaged several two-wheelers. Shops and business establishments remained closed and roads were deserted. BJP workers demanded the arrest of the culprits and shouted slogans at Police.
They also damaged the ambulance which had arrived on the scene and tried to set a house on fire.
The BJP workers have alleged the JD (S) workers were responsible for the murder. They have called for Anekal bundh on Monday, in protest against the incident. It is learnt there was a rift between a group of people and Chinnayya.
