Maharashtra police, with the help of City police, zeroed in on Jham at a star hotel in Kumara Park and took him to Mumbai.

Though Bangalore police denied Jham’s arrest, Maharastra Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria had said at a press conference Jham was arrested on Friday by police in Bangalore.

“Jham lived in Dubai, collected information on City businessmen and passed it on so that extortion calls could be made to them. He was also said to be a cricket bookie.

Police will question him about other financial dealings and the network of Shakeel’s gang in the City, Maria said.
He is also wanted for his alleged role in a 2005 case in which a jeweller was stabbed after he did not pay the extortion money demanded by the gang.
