Deputy Commissioner S R Umashanker has said that the citizens of the city need not despair as alternative arrangements had made to take care of basic problems in the light of the strike by the municipal workers.
Presiding over a high-level meeting, he said that teams had been formed with the commissioners, senior officials, tahsildars subdivisional officers heading them. These teams will assist in maintaining the cleanliness and other problems, he added.
The police help will also be sought to maintain peace and take action against the workers who try to disrupt alternative arrangements made by the district administration, he said.
A ban has been imposed on all the officers and the staff from taking leave till the issue is sorted out. Those who have already gone on leave should immediately return to work, directed the DC.
The officers should also send a daily report on the basic facilities provided by 5.30 pm , he said.
Food protection: The DC asked the head quarters assistant Malleshaiah to submit reports regarding complaints from the public that have been put in the complaint box and also give directly relating to the food protection.
He was  speaking after going through the progress report undertaken under the above scheme. Under the public distribution system everyone should get the food item. Everyone should be guaranteed food, is the clear direction from the Supreme Court. In this direction the food protection committees have been formed at the taluk, district and State level, he explained.
Regarding the action taken by the taluk level committees, the district-level committees will inspect and regarding the action taken by this committee, the State level committee will inspect. Hence, the taluk level officials should discharge their duties with great responsibility, said Malleshaiah and warned that in the implementation of the programmes there should be no neglect.
The officers should also inspect the quality of food distributed to the ration card holders and submit a report. The officials should make surprise visits at the ration depots and collect information from the public and address the complaints. Malleshaiah personally inspected the quality of food items being distributed under the ration card and akshara dasoha schemes.
Under the grains for work in the district, the implementation officers should not neglect or delay in lifting the grains.
The tahsildars should inspect and give a detailed report to the district administration, he said.
