The unacceptance of the act to reduce the power of the gram panchayat can be termed the victory of the gram panchayat, said Member of Legislative Assembly S M Muniyappa recently.
He was speaking after distributing the cheques to Ashraya and Swachata Andolana beneficiaries at Patrenahalli taluk.
The Member of Legislative Assembly also warned the gram panchayat officials to carry out their works with greater responsibility, else they would lose the power.
Taluk Panchayat president S Y Mariyappa suggested everyone to work for the development of the gram panchayat.
The government has been providing  grants of Rs 1,200 under Swachata Scheme.
Former gram panchayat president Manchanabale Venkatanarayanappa suggested that Rs 5,000 should be given for the construction of the toilets.
Zilla Panchayat member K B Prabhavathi, Taluk Panchayat member Jayamma, Gram panchayat president Nagaratnamma, members Ramanna, Mala, Tanuja, Ratnamma, Suguna, leaders Ashok Kumar, Satyanarayana Reddy  were present.
Former Gram panchayat president P A Mohan Kumar welcomed the function.
