Even as the salvage experts and divers who have arrived in Mangalore to retrieve M V Den Den which had sunk near Thannirbavi on June 23, are trying their level best to remove oil from the sunken ship, City based Shuu Creations and Media Relations have come out with a CD — “Den Den - The day that was.” The 20-minute CD is an attempt to showcase one of the recent tragedies near Mangalore. In fact, the contents are based on the events that took place on the day the ship sank (on June 23) which also includes the rescue operations.
Speaking after releasing the CD, Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao said that there were many allegations against the district administration that the district administration could not help the sailors though the ship was hardly 300 metres from the shore. “But the fact is that nobody could go beyond 20 metres in the rough sea on that day,” he said and added that it was a learning experience for the district administration to handle such crisis.
Director of the documentary, Mr Srinivas Nayak Indaje, said that the CD is a tribute to those three sailors who lost their life in the tragedy.
He also said that the copies of the CD will be given to schools, colleges and libraries.
The CD has been produced by Archana Nayak while background lyrics and music has been scored by Mahesh Nayak. Mr Rajesh Kundadka and Supreeth Bhandary who also helped in bringing out the CD, were present.
MLA J Krishna Palemar and Karavali Group of Colleges Chairman Ganesh Rao also spoke.
