READER'S OPINION : Are malls becoming unsafe?
Swathi Narayan
I cant classify whether it is the malls fault or those who visit the malls...

Gayathri, software professional: I don’t think malls can be blamed for what is happening. Security in general should be tightened. We can’t expect any extra security at malls. I don’t think that will help solve the problem. Parents should be more careful and keep vigil on their children. On weekends the malls are overcrowded and extra security will only worsen the problem. With such large crowds, no one can really keep track of what’s happening at malls.
Manoj, facility manager: In my opinion, I don’t think malls have become unsafe at all. I think parents must be more careful in such places and keep an eye on their children. The mall authorities should also bring about the concept of a suggestion box and be able to implement suggestions given by the people. There must be some set safety measures and the malls must follow them.
Rohit, planning engineer: I can’t classify whether it is the mall’s fault or those who visit the malls. I think there is too much pressure on the infrastructure in malls. They should not compromise the safety of the visitor. But there should be some kind of co-operation between the mall employees and the public who visit the place. Otherwise one side alone cannot do anything much to spruce.
Joyshree, student: Malls are a favourite hangout for the youngsters especially on weekends. Malls have become unsafe nowadays. Even if there are safety measures, the parents should be careful with their children. On the other hand, I think that the malls should be sealed off for a while. They should increase security and do everything possible to make it a safer place for people to hang out.
