In a first of its kind musical event, three generations of a family will be playing the flute together all over Karnataka in a concert called Swar Sagar.
The show will premier at the Jagan Mohan Palace Auditorium on August 4 and there after it will move to other parts of Karnataka including Hubli (August 26), Shimoga (September 1), Mangalore (Sept 29), Manipal (Sept 30) and Bangalore (October 13).
The Show would be in two parts. Tthe first 45 minutes of the show would have a classical performance with three generations of flute artistes performing - Pravin Godkhindi (32), Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi (60) and Master Shadaj Godkhindi (6). This is perhaps for the first time that three generations of a single family are playing flute on the same stage.
The next part of the show would see performances from the famed Krishna fusion band of Pravin Godkhindi.
The fusion band is very popular in Karnataka and has performed on various occasions in different parts of the state. The fusion band performs Hindustani, Carnatic and Western music.
All of the Concerts would be held in indoor auditoriums in each of the cities. Tickets are priced at Rs 99, Rs199 and Rs 299.
The event is being organised by Aalap Events and Media, which earlier organised concerts of Hariharan and Jagjit Singh. Aalap is planning to take Pravin and his team on an all India tour featuring more than 14 cities after the success of this concert.
Aalap under its music label would be launching VCDs and DVDs of the Mangalore concert titled 'Swar Sagar - Pravin Godkhindi live in concert.' The DVD would be launched in a gala finish of this tour at the Bangalore event on October 13. Aalap is represented by its Director Sharath Vatsa and Consultants Srinath M A and Shashi Kumar B S.
