Residents of some areas in the city were shell shocked late on Saturday night, after it was hit by mild tremors.
The tremors, which were felt for a couple of seconds, led to commotion in areas like Kalinga Nagar, Khandagiri, Tomando, Nayapalli, Sailashree Vihar and the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT). The tremors, which were felt for a couple of seconds, were reportedly preceded by an unusual sound. However, no damage to life or property was reported from any part of the city.
Confirming the mild earthquake, the meteorological department said, it measured 3.2 on the Richter scale. The epicentre of the quake is reportedly about 27 km from the city.
