As speculative reports on the possible deportation of detained Bangalore doctor Mohammed Haneef continue to do the rounds, Haneef’s wife Firdous Arshiya maintained that she didn’t want her husband deported with charges. “The reports on his deportation to India have not been confirmed. However, I don’t want him to be deported with any charges on him,” she told Deccan Herald on Sunday.
Firdous’ cousin Imran Siddiqui arrived in Brisbane late on Saturday to offer support to Haneef. “He has reached Brisbane and has applied with the authorities for a meeting with Haneef,” Firdous said.
She added that Imran, along with Haneef’s lawyers, could also explore possibilities of a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner.
Asked about her expectations with regard to the release of her husband Firdous said: “Let’s see... I’m just waiting.”
