The protest of the civic workers entered eighth day, causing dire consequences in the district. Supply of drinking water and cleanliness have particularly gone out of hand due to the strike which has been going on since eight days in the district. These workers are also restricting the CMC Commissioner and Assistant Executive Engineers, which has worsened the situation.
The exigency of the protest has made the district administration to organise a task force for the supply of drinking water and other facilities.
Committee formed
Kolar in-charge Deputy Commissioner K S Suryanarayana Rao said that a taluk level Committee has been formed comprising the tahsildar, taluk panchayat assistant executive engineers, Public Works department  assistant executive engineers and others.
Suitable measures will be taken to supply water through taps and tankers,  K S Suryanarayana Rao, added.
He also said that they would request the workers not to cause problems for the public. Legal action will be taken against them if they interrupt the works of the public.
A Committee has been formed for every ten wards which has been assigned to supervise and to ensure water supply and cleanliness in the city, he stated.
Contract has been given to the private companies for the disposal of garbage. Necessary steps will be taken for disposing the wastes from prominent places such as market.
He also requested the voluntary organisations like Rotary and others to help the public and carry out social services.
Water crisis has reached its height in Kolar and Chinthamani as compared to other places in the district. The protesters have been creating problems for the Engineers, he said .
He also said that the these workers are also hindering the private agencies to supply water. These issues are seriously considered and suitable action will be taken regarding this, he added.
He said that the public in Kolar have complained of drainage water being mixed with drinking water as the  drinking water pipes are connected to the pipes of the drain at Gandhi nagar in Kolar. Serious action will be taken, he assured.
Tankers
Water supply has been done through 21 tankers  for the benefit of the public. More tankers will be provided for supply of water, if necessary, Mr Suryanarayana Rao  added.
Water supply has been interrupted and this has caused serious problems. Some centres which provided drinking water have been locked and the fuse boards are destroyed. On the other hand, the district administration has assured of  of water supply, he said.
Gheraoed
The workers of the CMC gheraoed Commissioner  and did not allow him to work. They also disrupted the assistant executive engineers.
These protesters have all the keys of the offices with them and it has been difficult for the CMC to function.
The Commissioner has lodged a complaint against the protesters who have disrupted the works.
After the  protesters disrupted,  the commissioner had to sit in front of the Channayya Rangamandira and respond to people’s problems.
Support
Various organisations have supported the protest of CMC workers. Karnataka Dalita Sangharsha Samithi, Raitha Sangha, and Janawadi Women’s associations had participated in the dharna.
Assurance
Various leaders of the town have come forward to supply drinking water. CMC  former member Channaveerayya has been striving hard to supply water through tankers in Ward no.3.
In Jayanagar too , leader Murali Gowda, Rajesh from Gandhinagar have been trying to supply water.
