Telecom dept               open on all days
 The district telecom office in the BSNL premises on Ashoka Road will no remain open on all Sundays and holidays between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm, said general manager R N Sudhakar.
As earlier reported, the telecom office had been closed on Sundays and other holidays on an experimental basis. Now that has been done away with and it will be open for half-a-day.
Besides the CCBPT and VPT will disburse monthly bills starting from the month of July, and it will be distributed on August 4, said a release.
One killed in accident
A woman died and her child has been severely injured in an accident on Sunday at 10:30 am. It occurred at Sira taluk, in the Kalambella Police Station jurisdiction.
The victim has been identified as Mangalamma who died on the spot, while the child, which sustained severe injuries was treated at the Tumkur hospital and for further treatment has been taken to Bangalore.
Two more have also been reported as injured in the accident.
A case has been registered with the Kalamballi Police Station and further investigations are on.
