Infrastructural needs of Mangalore drafted
DH News Service,Mangalore:

Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes former member S V Amin has drafted a paper titled ‘Infrastructural needs of Mangalore/ DK District-An Agenda’ and has presented it to Dakshina Kannada District-in-Charge Secretary Bharatlal Meena.
Addressing a news conference on Monday Mr Amin said that paper deals with long-term sustainable development planned for twin coastal districts.
He said that the first step to be taken is concretisation of all the major and connection roads across the district to cut down on maintenance cost spent every year.
Considering the traffic congestion in Hampankatta circle, a two- way fly over has been proposed in the agenda, starting from Hotel Roopa on Balmatta road till Taluk Panchayat office. Another way of the same fly over could start from Central talkies and end near KMC Light House Hill. Amin opined that this will ease out the traffic congestion.
He proposes that during the construction of Hampankatta Parking Complex, the old buildings must be shifted away from the road, providing wider scope for expansion of the roads.
To boost tourism, Mr Amin proposes a concept of  “Temples on wheel,’’ under which all famous pilgrim centres like Mangalore, Subramanya, Dharmasthala, Udupi, Kollur should be provided with railway connectivity to boost tourism and for the convenience of the tourists.
Sub-way to Nantoor Junction, expansion of all narrow roads in the City, separate City bus stand, hygienic markets and toilet facilities across the City, open and park spaces are some of the other highlights of the agenda.
