Thirty-one-year-old Rajni was hit by a bullet fired from the double-barrel gun of her father Jai Bhagwan Mallick, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, as she attempted to snatch the weapon from him.
Police said Rajni died on the spot after the early morning incident in Pitampura in northwest Delhi, while Mallick is battling for his life in a hospital.
The 62-year-old retired officer was depressed because of Rajni’s separation from her husband. He was also suffering from tuberculosis, kidney problem and hypertension.
