At least 15 people were killed and 30 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday, reports IANS.
The bus was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control and the bus fell into a deep gorge.
‘Dark’ housewife killed
A housewife was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws for being dark complexioned in West Bengal’s Burdwan district, reports PTI.
The girl’s lodged a FIR with the police alleging she was murdered. The husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law have been arrested.
Man molests air hostess
An Indian passenger who allegedly tore the uniform of an air hostess and tried to embrace her during a Bangkok-Kolkata flight of Jet Airways on Tuesday was arrested, reports PTI from Kolkata.
Air staff and passengers of the flight overpowered the man, identified as Dinesh Gupta, a resident of Kolkata. He was handed over to the police and will be produced in court on Wednesday.
MLA caught without ticket
A BSP MLA from Mirzapur was caught travelling without ticket in an AC coach and was let off only after paying the fine but not before he threatened the checker with dire consequences, DHNS reports from Lucknow.
Ramesh Kumar of Bahujan Samaj Party boarded the Lucknow-bound train in Delhi on Monday and occupied a berth in the air-conditioned coach though he did not have the ticket. When asked for the ticket, the MLA allegedly misbehaved with the checker. A Train Ticket Examiner caught the MLA at Moradabad railway station and made him cough up the fine before allowing him to travel further.
Nun’s death: CD submitted
The CBI on Wednesday handed over to the Kerala High Court the CD of the narco-analysis tests conducted on two priests and a nun in connection with the death of Sister Abhaya in 1992, reports agencies from Kochi. Justice V Ramkumar had directed the CBI to submit the CD on or before July 24.
8 drown as boat capsizes
Eight people were killed and 12 others feared drowned on Wednesday when an overcrowded boat capsized in the swollen Kosi river at Kanpghat village in Bihar’s Purnia district. Eight bodies have been fished out so far and efforts were on to retrieve the bodies of others with the help of local divers and fishing nets.
