A ‘syndicate of rich people’ is purchasing land being auctioned by the Government in Bangalore, Congress MLA Roshan Baig said in Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
The MLA, who is a member of A T Ramaswamy Committee, said the panel was successful in identifying encroached land. The auctioned land is going into the hands of a ‘syndicate’ of affluent people and this has to be stopped, he said.
Mr Baig asked the Government to reserve some land as lung space instead of auctioning all the recovered land.
Reconstituted
He also said the BDA has not been reconstituted for the last two years.
In his reply, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said the Government has auctioned only 300 out of the 9,000 acres of recovered land. There is no question of succumbing to the ‘tactics’ of any syndicate, he said. He also said the BDA would be reconstituted soon.
To a question by N L Narendra Babu, Mr Kumaraswamy said the Government will examine the need for legislation to make public trusts and NGOs accountable to public as they benefit from Government projects.
