The Karnataka Dalita Sangharsha Samithi (Ambedkarvada) will organise a protest in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office, pressing for the fulfilment of their demands on July 25, said DSS State Co-ordinator Rohithaksha K.
Informing this at a press meet, he said the demands of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi include waiving off the loan availed by Dalits.
He said the property belonging to Dalits is being seized by the officials of banks and KSFCs as the Dalits have failed to repay the loans availed from Dr B R Ambedkar Development Board for starting self-employment projects.
To utilise the funds meant for upliftment of Dalits, the Single Window System should be implemented, Mr Rohithaksha demanded. Many applicants for hostel rooms are forced to discontinue education, as they are not provided hostel facilities. Hence, all applicants must be provided hostel facilities.
The Mangalore City Corporation has not distributed title deeds to the 31 Dalit families residing near the Bolur cremation ground though the Port department and Mangalore City Corporation has been receiving land and house tax.
Similarly, the three scheduled caste families and 37 backward class families residing in Bondanthila village Survey number 103 and 106 must be provided with title deeds apart from street lights, road and water supply, the Dalita Sangharsha Samithi demanded.
